The World Ends Soon - Will 2012 the Movie, Cause Panic?

Due out November 13, 2009, the movie 2012 is already the subject of much water cooler chatter. Do you think the movie will cause panic?

Based on the conclusion of the Mayan calendar, which ends December 20, 2012, the movie attempts to predict a catastrophic event. Obviously, it's an event that's in Hollywood's image. Still, how much chaos can one movie due?

This reminds me of Passion of the Christ. Many thought the movie would stir up lots of emotion and cause a lot of trouble. In the end, some feathers were ruffled, but that passed.

However, many are starting to say that 2012 could cause a panic level similar to the Y2K fiasco some years ago. Food rations anyone?

Sure, the Mayans haven't seen the light of day in thousands of years, but somehow they get all the credibility in the world. Could they be right? My money is on no. However, that doesn't stop everyone from adding their two cents. Like the final moments of 1999, I think the world will be talking about this heavily until January 01, 2013.

As far as the movie goes, you know it will be filed with great special effects and mayhem. It's director, Roland Emmerich, is well-known for destroying a city in Godzilla, blowing up countless landmarks in Independence Day and most recently, tackling climate change in The Day After Tomorrow.

I expect 2012 to follow his style, which means it will be a great ride. Unlike the previous movies, this one has a sense of possible realism to it all. None of us expect giant lizards to tear through cities, but a movie based on predictions due to hit soon are intriguing.

Real or not, at the very least we get a great movie to enjoy. As to the panic of the public, we'll have to wait and see.

How I Got A Robot To Vacuum The House

Like most people I really hated to vacuum the house. I
thought anyone who enjoyed vacuuming was close to insanity.
Well, I must be crazy too because I have started vacuuming
every few days. Why? Because I purchased a robotic vacuum
cleaner.

All you do is place it on the floor, turn it on, and push
the clean button to start it off on its cleaning odyssey. It
will circle a couple of times and then off it goes around
the room seeking out dirt and dust. Whether the floor is
carpets, hardwood, ceramic, or tiles - it does them all with
equal enthusiasm.

It is not a toy or gimmick. Rather, it is part of a new
generation of household equipment that will soon become
common. They are products that can make decisions as to how
best to accomplish a task. Not quite true artificial

in height and one foot in diameter it looks like a miniature
flying sauce as it scurries across the floor.

It uses a bump-and-turn method of operation. Once
operational it goes in a straight until it bumps into
something. Each time it encounters an obstacle it turns and
goes off in an alternate direction. If an unusually dirty
area is found the vacuum will circle until it is satisfied
the area is sufficiently clean. This way dusty corners or
debris such as cookie crumbs get extra attention.

These little whirling dervishes of the vacuum world can even
deal with obstacles such as stairs, thresholds, and
transitions between different flooring materials. When it
encounters the top of a staircase it will come right to the
edge, stop for a few seconds, make a reverse turn, and go
off in another direction.

Since purchasing a robot vacuum cleaner I have gone from
vacuuming once a week to every couple of days. The results
of the increased cleaning frequency are quite visible. This
little machine has put the shine back into my carpets.

The only disadvantages I have found are minor. For instance,
the dust storage bin is small. The bin should be emptied
after every few uses to prevent it from becoming full. Also
the power brush can become clogged with small bits of
debris. This is easily corrected though by disassembling the

Imagine that you were invited to submit your resume for a job you've long sought. There's just one catch: instead of the usual two-page chronological format, you must submit three icons (images, photos, pictures, etc). that represent your attributes and aptitudes. Where did this idea originate? Well, I recently read an article about the power of using images in cover letters, not unlike using images in marketing campaigns. You know, the evocative nature of hot-guy-gets-hotter-girl commercial if he's smart/cool/confident enough to drive a particular model car.

So I thought why not apply this concept to help someone with a resume? Even if the images aren't used in the document itself, this exercise can help almost everyone identify - and speak knowledgeably to - their essential, core strengths. The outcome of this iconic exercise even can be incorporated and integrated into an elevator pitch, networking, personal branding, and even ice breakers and team-building exercises!

One particularly cool example of how to use these iconic images is as a personal business card. Picture this: your name, email address and three images, perhaps with just one descriptive word for each. How individualized, how crystallized, how memorable and, how very powerful!

2. Trading rules for breakout method.

As I mentioned the rules are very simple. Once you identified the range you place buy order at the top of the range and sell order at the bottom of the range. The beauty of the systems based on breakout is that you don't have to be guessing where to put your stop losses. They are put at the opposite side of the range. So if your buy order at the top of the range the stop loss for that order will be at the bottom of the range. You can use this kind of system even if you trade part time. For example you can identify a range of Asian session before London open then set your orders and live it until the next day. If you are trading full time you can introduce more sophisticated ways of defining the breakout. You can take a trade only if a candle closes outside the range or you can enter a trade after a pullback.

3. Example of a Bollinger squeeze breakout system.

Bollinger breakout system is one of my favorite breakout systems. All you need to do is open your 15-minute chart and place Bollinger indicator. Now look for the time when Bollinger bands become horizontal and the distance between them becomes less than 10-15 pips. The longer such squeeze lasts the bigger the breakout you can expect. You want no less than 10 of 15-minute periods of a Bollinger squeeze. The smaller the price range the stronger the breakout the more profit you can get. Actually this was my experience with any breakout systems. So now place your buy stop at the upper band and sell order at the lower band. Place you stop-loss levels at the opposite bands. Usually with EURUSD I target at least 30 pips of profit. You can test and experiment with your own taking profit strategies.
